...faith in actionCheck out the video!!Why Isaiah 58? Isaiah58 is a project inspired by the words of God, spoken through an Old Testament prophet - Isaiah. There and throughout the Bible, God clearly shows his heart for justice and for those who are in need. He wants us to show that concern in the way we live our lives – by putting our faith into action. And that’s what the Isaiah58 project is all about. How does it work? Isaiah58 enables young people to put faith into action by serving in their local communities. That might mean gardening for an elderly person, painting a room for someone who cannot do it themselves or being part of a village litter pick. One Saturday morning a month, teams of young people will be getting out and about in a village near you. Each team will have a leader and will help out in the village in practical ways. That could be gardening, painting or chopping up firewood. If you want to get involved, you’ll need to get in touch with the Isaiah58 co-ordinator in your village. You must be in School Year 9 or above to take part, and if you’re under 18 you need to get your parent or guardian to complete a consent form (see link below). Remember to wear old clothes and strong shoes – you might even get dirty…

Massive thanks to the eight young people who turned up on Saturday to help with Meridian School's gardening project. We were digging flowerbeds for the new 'Space Garden' that children from Meridian have designed. No need to go down the gym - all that digging was a full body workout. Next Isaiah58 in Comberton is Saturday 17th November; but look out for Isaiah58 Hardwick starting up soon!!

Well well well. Isaiah58 goes big. Together with the whole of wccym and most of the known universe we are gearing up for The Big Work Out 2007. The vision: 30 young people making a visible impact around the village of Comberton by serving others in practical ways, followed by a barbeque to replenish all that expended energy. The date: Saturday 19th May 2007. The time: 10am-2pm. The place: The whole of Comberton (but meeting at the Baptist Church!).

It’s all very well hearing about God’s love for us and how we should share that through our lifestyles, but it’s often hard to know how. Isaiah58 will involve and encourage young people to serve in their local communities. We aim to help engage young people with the community, hopefully building bridges between social and age groups.
