COMBERTON VILLAGE COLLEGE

Since it started in 1992, WCCYM has had close links with Comberton Village College (CVC). Our staff work alongside the college directly supporting CVC organised activities (eg assemblies, residentials, etc) and through activities run as an affiliated society of CVC Community Association. Youthworkers from WCCYM and local churches have helped with one-to-one mentoring, lunch-time supervisions, and sometimes join with Comberton Christian Focus - a group for Christian staff at CVC. We also run Crossover, the Christian Union meetings on Monday and Thursday lunchtimes (see below). We also run occasional special events at Comberton Leisure, on CVC premises.

CROSSOVER

Crossover is the place to be at lunchtime if you're at CVC. An opportunity to eat your lunch with your friends, play some games, chat about life and issues, learn something about God, and be encouraged in your Christian journey.

  • If you’re in Years 7 or 8, then join us on a Monday lunchtime in GE3 for games, activities and discussion.
  • If you’re in Year 9 to 11, then come along on a Thursday lunchtime to MA5 for some great faith/God related discussion.
  • Hope to see some of you there!

We’re linked to ‘The Wire’, which is organised by Youth for Christ, with the purpose of ‘Connecting and resourcing Christian Unions across Cambridge’. Have a look at www.cambridgeyfc.com/thewire for more information.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS

WCCYM youthworkers work mainly with secondary school age students but also link with local primary school age students to help with the transition to secondary school. We work alongside local village churches in our catchment area to deliver assemblies in their local primary school. We sometimes help with lunch-time clubs or after-school clubs. We occasionally go on school residentials with Yr 6 students and take RE lessons.

SIXTH FORMERS

Comberton Village College now has a Sixth Form. There is a group that meets on a Tuesday lunchtime in Six9 for snacks and a time to chat. Contact Susie for more information.
