Summer Thirst, 12 July 2009 PDF Print E-mail

Were you at Summer Thirst?  Once again, Summer Thirst was a great way to finish off term before the summer holidays.  For the second year we were on the playing fields of the Meridian Primary School at Comberton.  We had great weather, gladiators, bouncy castle, Jack's special wet dodge ball game, zara's zlip n zlide, soak the leader (slosh losch).  Ministar Disco provided great tunes and encouragement, as always.  There was face painting, hair-braiding, ice-cream van, a fantastic bbq provided by the Munday family, tuck-shop, beat the goalie - in the most minature goal ever.  The tug of war was won (easily) by Hardwick this year.  Then some great musical worship led by Sara Thomson and Ben Pemberton, with Caitlin Bays on bass, Ben Harrison on electric guitar and Jack Pople on drums.  Alice Instone-Brewer gave a great talk helping reflect on how awesome God is and reminding us of how much he loves us even though we mess up.

Sadly, it was also time for some goodbyes.  Zara (Papworth Team) has finished her training placement with us and is moving on to youthwork elsewhere - probably in Birmingham.  Mark (Hardwick Evangelical Church) is stepping aside from part-time youthworkafter a 2nd post-uni gap-year and is looking for work in comptuing which is what his degree is all about.  Matt (Lord'sBridge Team), unfortunatelly, wasn't able to join us becuase he was ill -and we had some gunge ready especially for him.  He has finished his curacy and is off to New Zealand to be a vicar.

We remembered to take a group photo at the end and, when I've worked out how to get it off my camera and onto the website, I'll put it up for you to see.

Anyhow, enjoy your summer holiday.  We've got some new youth workers joining us in the autumn.  See you later!
