Who and what is WCCYM?
West Cambridge Christian Youth Ministries (WCCYM) was established in 1992 to support Christian youth work for the villages of west Cambridge, focusing initially on the catchment area of Comberton Village College (CVC). From the start, WCCYM has been supported mainly by local village churches and individuals. It is, essentially, local churches working together to support youth work in a manner that they could not do individually. Our mission statement is ‘to communicate the good news of Jesus Christ to young people in west Cambridge.’
WCCYM’s work can be broadly divided into 4 categories:
- Making relationships and earning the right to share Jesus
- Building credibility and beginning to introduce Jesus
- Clear communication of the Gospel message
- Mentoring Christian young people
WCCYM's Mission Statement
"WCCYM exists to communicate the good news of Jesus Christ to young people in West Cambridge"
WCCYM's Strategy
1. Participate
WCCYM seeks to work with the support of local churches to enable young people to become active participants in these churches.
2. Permeate
WCCYM seeks to permeate the community of young people and those adults who work with them with the love of Jesus Christ by exhibiting attitudes and deeds, which proves his love.
3. Pray
WCCYM will initiate and encourage regular and ongoing prayer for the young people and will provide resources to enable churches to pray for the work.
4. Proclamation
WCCYM will proclaim, both formally and informally, the good news of Jesus Christ.
